Ethan's Discord Exporter is a Chrome extension that exports Discord messages to files saved locally on your device. Everything happens on your machine — no data is ever sent to any server, collected, or stored anywhere outside your own browser.
To fetch your message history, the extension captures your Discord authorization token from outgoing network requests made by the Discord web app. This token is held in memory only for the duration of the export — it is never written to disk, never transmitted to any server, and is discarded when the extension popup is closed.
The extension reads messages from the channel or DM you are currently viewing and writes them to a file saved on your device. This data never leaves your device and is never sent anywhere.
If you purchase a Pro license, your license key is stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device. It is never transmitted to any external server. Validation is performed entirely on-device.
The extension stores a daily export count locally in Chrome's extension storage to enforce the free plan limit. This data never leaves your device.
The extension uses Stripe to process one-time Pro license purchases. Stripe's own privacy policy governs that transaction. No purchase data is accessible to or stored by the extension itself.
